The Lathe can be a very dangerous machine if not used correctly and the correct safety precautions adhered to. The machine's main function is quite simple. It rotates a piece about a fixed axis, however with speeds of up to 2000 RPM the lathe can prove to be very dangerous if not respected and the appropriate PPE worn. A full face shield must be worn to protect the user from debris coming off the piece. Long hair and loose clothing must be tied back in order to reduce the risk of entanglement.
