The Bowl is a woodturning project which requires a medium level of skill and quite a lot of time for finishing. This example is a segment bowl made up of two different wood types. Making a segmented bowl requires a lot more time when preparing the material and there is substantially more material wasted. However the finished project is very aesthetically pleasing and the contrasting woods really compliment each other. All turning aspects of this project are relatively straight forward but it will require a lot of time because there is a huge amount of waste to be removed. The materials selected for this project are Black walnut and Ash, however other hardwoods such as mahogany or maple would also be suitable.
