The Lathe is a machine which rotates a piece on its axis in order for different operations to be carried out to remove waste and therefore shape the piece. The machine has many different parts, some are stationary parts and others are moving. Due to these moving parts the lathe can be a dangerous machine if not respected and used correctly. Some lathes are free standing and have their own purpose built stand, other examples are wall mounted and stayed fixed to the wall.
